New Car Challenge....

Here is a challenge for you...

As my 1997 Astra now qualifies for the Government Scrappage incentive, what new car should I replace it with?

The new car has to be brand new and ideally have the following:-

- Low Insurance Group
- 50+ MPG Combined
- £35 per year Road Tax
- NCAP 4 Star Safety or higher
- Air Conditioning

Any ideas on what to look at? I'm not bothered about performance, as I have something else that does this job

Most folks are probably still getting back home from earning a crust.

As for what car to get - the list is probably endless of truly mediocre cars! lol

The obvious, and important, question is what's your budget? That will obviously be a major factor in what can be suggested.

Wont fit in the garage, and I dont want to get rid of the Vectra VXR yet, as still have plans for it

Budget... cheap as possible really, but say... £7,500 max (plus £2000 scrappage)
