Default Turbo failure 2.2DTI SRI 53 plate.....

Pretty sure my turbo has just gone west. Major power loss and mega white smoke from exhaust with a pool of oil underneath No tinkling sounds and engine idles smoothly and quietly....

Presuming I'm right, and I can't find any other threads with this failure (which is odd because the breakdown guy said Vauxhall Turbos go all the time) - any idea where to find a turbo at a reasonable price? Tried Ebay without luck, there are some Polish units but that'd take too long (it's a taxi) and it's a long way to take it back...and one from a breaker who doesn't even know which engine it's from
Theres a couple of companies which sell recon turbos, can anyone reccomend one?

    Anybody? Pretty Please

White smoke usually indicates water loss.Is it using water? Oil in water? Water in oil etc? Blue and Black smoke are usually indicative of possible turbo problems.

White smoke usually means that water is finding its way into the cylinders. Not sure if 2.2 DTIs have a problem with head gaskets or cylinder heads?

Maybe I'm colour blind or maybe it's because it was dark, but the turbo has for sure taken the knock

Looking at a major bill and on top of the other recent problems with the car, I'm seriously regretting going Vauxhall

Gotta be fixed though, if only to get rid. I had hoped that someone could point me towards a good replacement turbo source/repairer....?

There seems to be about three different turbos fitted to this model, the Y22DTR engine

Edit: Just spoke to the garage, the two likely turbos are £450 and £550 and he's gonna get it stripped off and ordered today. As I can't come up with anything concrete, I'm letting him get hold of one. at least it'll have a warranty..... Should be fun burning all that oil outta the intercooler and exhaust system.....

While I was waiting for the AA to pick me up early this morning, two fire engines rolled up looking puzzled - some idiot had phoned in a car on fire ...that's how bad the smoke was :0

Sounds like he knows what he's talking about then - not! lol Turbos in Vx are predominantly Garret so not a make that are known to be commonly unreliable.

Sounds like it's too late but Turbo Technics would have been my first port of call.

Looks like you're getting sorted now anyway.
