headlamp level

I recently fitted the Philips Xtreme headlights and they are pretty good. However, because I am a wally I first of all removed the leveller motor thinking it was the bulb holder! I replaced it after a bit of fiddling about but now the headlight aim is much higher than the correct one. It still moves up and down with the control in the car though. ALso, if you wiggle the headlamp connector the whole assembly moves up and down a fair bit. The other side does not feel like this.

I have tried removing and refitting the levelling motor a few times and it seems to go in OK and nothing looks broken. Does anyone know what I have done?

Is there a correct way to fit the levelling motor?

Yes, it sounds like you have disconnected the arm of the motor from the locator in the headlight assy. If it's anything like the omega setup then it's like a ball and socket arrangement and requires the 'ball' from the motor to be slid into the socket from the side. A bit of a fiddle with the headlight unit in the car but it can be done.
