CD70 Update CD

Does anyone know what the latest update CD for the CD70 NAV unit is? or even have one that I can borrow to try and get POI updates working from?

I've got a 57 plate SRI NAV so would need to be one dated later than that I presume?

The POI are on the map disc, not the update disc.

Just look on ebay (beware of fakes) for a newer map disc. Expect to pay £30 to £40.

DOH! no no no... lol... yep the POI's are on the map disc, the stuff for the sat nav voice and POI announcements is on the update disc and its this that needs modifying in order to have audible alerts for certain POI's etc....

As far as I am aware, there has never been audible alerts for the cd70 units...there are threads on the BMW Mini about doing this, but the Vx set up does not provide this facility.
I am not aware of any facility to add new POI's either!!

This request had been mentioned a few times for speed cameras etc...no one has successfully been able to tweak the software to achieve this.

As stated on another thread, my software is 04/04/2007 and I will keep it that way...the 2009/2010 disk changes the TMC settings to use traffic master, which many forum members have found quite useless when compared to the original TMC set-up

I assume by recent PM's and posts that it is the Update CD that you have now modified, or was it the map disk as suspected!!

I have successfully modded the map disk to include the locations of speed cameras using the unused military base poi.

This gives you unannounced locations of the speed cameras - useful but not ideal, the update CD would be needed to introduce announcements of these poi's and also to alter the way in which they are announced (modified beep sequence or custom announcement may be possible).

The map CD only contains map and poi data, the voice files etc are held on the CD70 unit and it may be possible to modify them using the update CD, I have managed to get hold of an old CD to examine whats on it but the version is one prior to my CD70 and therefore would not load up once installed. I also need to ensure that I have got the correct files that need altering to introduce alerts for the military base icon. It should also be possible to alter the icon used for this poi field using the update CD.....

lol.... yeah I'm having fun with the CD70 since I picked the car up on Friday.... had it just under a week and already fiddling with stuff - just cant help myself, take a look at the bike i've got on ebay in one of my other threads - lots of mods! lol....

There is a how to for the work i've already completed, Stevel is just checking on some legalities with regards to POI sites before allowing it to go live though.... It may be simpler to just remove the link to the POI site though and just state that you need the POI file for X brand of sat nav.....

How old is your update CD, mine is 04/04/07...if this is newer than yours, then I can post it to you to look at if that helps.

My map cd is also 2007.

hi im having a problem with my cd70, when i go to view the map it just shows a black screen the arrow pictogram shows and voice directions work, just that i can't physically see the map. im not sure if this is because of the map update. I've currently got an 08/09 map disk???? :s
