    Question A/C condensation pump??

Hi again lads and lass's. This post is a continuation of my never ending saga with my GSi. If you look in engine and drivetrain you will see I've been fighting the main stealers for a while now..

BUT... Yesterday, My uncle who is an Air conditioning engineer, suggested it could be a noisy pump, IF indeed they are fitted..

You see, as the A/C runs water condenses on the chiller and this either has to drain or pump away..

Well, It was boiling yesterday and the A/C took a beating. This morning what do you know?? It was the loudest it has ever been!!

So, Does anyone know if these condensate pumps are fitted or if it's a gravity drain??

    We'll see drinky.

To be honest I'm now reduced to these 'best guesses' as GM seem unwilling or unable to help. The last dealer I saw sent over it's V6 expert who admitted that even now mine was only the second 3.2 he'd seen to work on and that he had'nt even been on the vectra c courses... Oh Dear!!! Camdens leighton buzzard....

So, what else would run for only 5 seconds both on start-up and on shut down that would produce a pump/clicking sound from the toe board/engine bay area?? The timing is always the same. 5 secs every time...

    Anyone????

Oh by the way 3.2 GSi April 2004. Split climate and auto box.

Moves faster than my wife through my wallet!! Running costs about the same...

    Angry

    Okay, Maybe

But, why does it run on shut down when there is no need for it to run??

As there is no spanner on the dash VX won't plug it into the can-bus, even if I pay!!

What else is there in the area folks that can cause this?? All suggestions welcome!!!

It appears we have more ideas than the VX tech boy's..

I get a few strange clicks and whirring noises coming from behind the dash on start up and shut down but they seem to be something to do with the climate?-sounds like vents in the system opening/closing. Occasionaly I get a ticking sound like a clock (or something tripping??) after i start driving but it dissapears after a while (this sounds like its coming from behind the instruments.

Its always done it and as its quiet I dont think it is what you are suffering- but could it be related??

(Mines 3.2 auto with split climate)

    Could be...

It has been suggested that it was the motot for the air re-circulate, and i've tried this to near destruction but nope, only for 5 secs on start and shut down...

Not so much a ticking, Think roadside Breaker......

As your car is well in warranty have you tried 'forcing' your local VX to do the work, as the car is definately not to specification. Have you contacted VX customer care, and explained about unhelpful dealer? Have you asked any other garage for an expert opinion and charged this to VX dealer, (or just tell them you will do this, and get it in writing to them?)

If it is that bad, really stink them up, they have to honour warranty.

    Talking

    Whoa there!!!

    Yep, done all the above....

I've got a mate at VX's head office in luton. He shook the tree for me...

I've got a ref. number and it's been in again and again.

The fault is only intermitant now, so i'll live with it. VX can't find it ( no codes) but think its HVAC as well.

Getting used to the noise, I just turn the music up...
