Thumbs up Seems a good deal to me

Needed some new tyres on the front of the car, went to a place that's quite hidden away, got part worns thinkin they will do until I've got some money to get some proper tyres, turns out the part worns are eagle nct and like new! Don't even look used, they didn't have any dirt on or anything. £30 a tyre fitted! That seems a good deal to me, correct me if I'm wrong

I've nothing against part-worns if they're so much better for your pocket, but the cynical part of me wants to know the history of the tyres and why they're so cheap if they look like they're in such good condition

there has a been a few horror stories on nct tyres, do a search on the forum for them. most people dont buy them now. but they are a good price if you get no problems.

As above, NCT5 have numerous issues with them
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER fit any manufactured from any country, except Germany
There are also faulty batches (from memory 2004 and 2005)
However, most can be easily spotted by looking across the tread pattern and looking for cracking and/or splitting

As for nearly new or part worn tyres
Providing they have been FULLY inspected AND pressure tested then most can be used quite safely
Equally, before they are fitted inspect them yourself :
Check the inside to ensure the webbing is not showing and there are no signs of having run on flat
Check the sidewall for damage and changes in colour pattern (which indicates the tyre has suffered a heavy braking application)
Check the tread for damage and cracking
Finally on the sidewall locate the year of manufacture / batch, and NEVER buy anything more than 3 years old

I regularly test tyres and you could classify many of these as part worn
They are swapped between cars and as a result they are often removed from the wheels and replaced on to new wheels, this alone can damage them!
They are visually inspected before and after each fitting
Ironically, they don't tend to do more than 5000 miles

I still have NCT5's on the front of mine & can't wait to get rid. I do so few miles that it may take a while for them to wear, though I'm giving it my best shot with TC off when the missus isn't looking.
