spring seat mod

hi all my front coil springs are twanging like mad,so had a poke around today,no broken springs,could it just be that i need the seat mod or is there anything else it could be,my steering feels really weird at the moment aswell,i did notice that when i lowerd the jack as the spring compressed there was a horrible grinding sound coming from the spring,any ideas

Sounds like you need the spring seat mod and also when you do it put plenty of copper grease in the pan so the springs move easily

No doubt the spring seat is full of crap and little stones etc. hence the grinding noise you heard when lowering it, would be worth doing the spring seat mod if it's not been done, is the car under vx warranty i.e network Q as they will do this mod' for you, also in what way is your steering feeling wierd?

hi cruiser cars out of warranty,but its got a full vx service history,as for the steering i cant put my finger on the problem,it seems really light when steering and seems to snatch the wheel as your turning,might replace front drop links and arbs

Might be a place to start by changing those; have you ever had 4-wheel alignment done on this car as that might be worth getting checked.
