Sounds like some sort of fuel cutoff, no idea where you'd find it though and don't have access to my Haynes...

    Fuel cutoff switch

    Open the bonnet
    Back of the engine
Plunger looking item, with a button on top
    Press firmly

However, since this is a diesel, if you have been running the engine before resetting the fuel cut off switch then you may need to reprime the fuel system

Don't suppose a 2.2DTi would have this would it? Mine tonight as decided it doesn't want to start, seems to be an incurable problem which is getting on my goat now, it is on a VERY mild incline facing up

If you get it to a filling station, fill it to the max and then don't let it drop below a half or 3/4... Had this on my old 2.2 DTi Vec B and put it down to a dodgy tank sucker-upper pipe type thing. Always filled it at 2/3's and never had a problem after that...

Hmmmph!!!! Thanks for the advice, I get this issue normally around 1/4 left, but in this day and age I should be able to park a car up hill, on reserve and leave it there for more than 24hrs!!!! ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!

My borther's gonna tow me round the block a few hundred yards tomorrow morning, I'll fill it up then too. Cheers!

I think that maybe something had come loose in the tank - without knowing the makeup of it it's hard to say, but it cured it...

Does it have 2 pumps like the high pressure system on the directs? One in the tank and one on the rail?
