    Default Police knowledge required...

Hope either MLC, Jamie or anyone else in the know can help me out with this.

I need a copy of a HORT 2 report that was filled out when i was for a producer back in February, where can i get this from??

Does it depend on area or is there one central office that deals with it?

If it helps, the police station i went to and had the HORT 2 filled out was in Uxbridge, London.

    Hope someone can help.

    cheers
    Harry

There should be a copy in the HORT/2 book at the station you produced at, also the Central Ticket Office for the area that issued the HORT/1 should have received a copy.

Was the HORT/1 issued in London as well? if so call the switchboard for the Met and either ask to speak to the front counter at Uxbridge or to their Centrl Ticket Office.

Each Police Authority area will have its own Central Ticket Office.

    Cheers Jamie,

The HORT 1 was issued down in Dorset, and i've been to the police station where the HORT 2 was filled out twice and they insist that they don't have a copy of it, that its been sent to the Cental Traffic Office in Sidcup.

Called Sidcup and said that they don't have it because it was issued in Dorset and they don't deal with that area. Was given the police station phone number that i went to in the first place in order to get a copy.

    Basically going round in circles!!

well here goes.....any advice as to what i should do now is very welcome:

i was driving in Dorset on the 7th February this year and a Ford Fiesta "Community Support Vehicle" was driving two cars ahead of me. All of a suddden it stopped and the guy who jumped out indicated for me to pull over. Usual story, "why are license plates the way they are", he issued me with a HORT/1 (Producer and also told me to get the plates changed).

This is what i was issued with, sorry the pics are small but i cant get around that:

Yesterday i was told by a Station Desk Office that because they haven't ticked the VDRS (Vehicle Defect Rectification ??!??) that it only officially required me to produce my insurance document. Now can anyone confirm this as this may give me a leg to stand on?? Apparently the ticket is foreign to everyone i've showed to at the Uxbride Police Station - they say they must use joint HORT/1 as opposed to issuing one per offence/request.

The VDRS that i'm told should've been ticked is two boxes below where they have written my reg number H18 RYM.

I went to police station and showed them my insurance certificate. I hadn't at that point changed the plates but i still had another week to do that.

I purchased plates from Halfords on the 14 day after the ticket was issued and went to police station that same day with a halfords stamp on the back of the ticket.

The officer who i spoke to behind the desk was obviously not meant to be behind a desk but was either filling in or training. He was an ars£ from the off, firstly he requested to see my driving license, quite odd as there was no need, but anyway i showed him my photo license, he then told me that that is not in fact my driving license, i needed the counterpart too! Both my g/friend and me then explained that there was no reason for me to produce my driving license and the only thing i was there for was so that he could see that the plates had been changed. He then went into a strop and said that Halfords is not an MOT testing station and so was not valid!! I was livid at this point and when i left the station and was so cheesed off i decided to forget it, that i had done my bit. The MOT testing station would charge me £10 plus VAT to stamp the document. I couldn;t see why the stamp had to be from an MOT station as the fault wasn't mechanical, the officer could've used his discretion.

Maybe i'm lashing out but this officer could've saved me alot of hassle by just being polite from the start maybe then i would've done everything by the book. Even my g/friend who is quick to state when i'm in the wrong or being a tw4t was just as fuming as i was and we both agreed that i wouldn't go back. (Thank god for that otherwise i'd have in the neck about how its all my fault - which it probably is anyway!)

Anyway, i'd all but forgotten about until i was sent a court summons yesterday!!! The charge is driving a vehicle that has plates that do not conform with the applicable codes.

Now what do i do, plead guilty but put it in writting that i did actually have the plates changed, all i have showing the date i purchased the plates is a bank statement.

Or do i plead not guilty and write formally explaining the same thing?

I know i'm likely to get a fine and 3 points for it. P1ssed off, is an understatement. I know i'm partly to blame, but the only thing i'm guilty of is not informing them in the correct manner that the plates had been changed.

    What can i do??

    Yours learning-everything-the-hard-way

    Harry

The reason for the MOT testing station stamp is that the number plate spacing is part of the MOT test, as such the testing station is the 'oficial' place to have lettering etc.. checked, not Halfrauds.
