Just coming home from work, deserted (ish) M4, minding my own business, nothing near me, Crack!

That'll be the fourth windscreen I have put on the car in 18 months. I've never had such bad luck with cars before!

Oh well, At least it's only £60 again. Can't repair as it looks like it's already starting to split, by the time Autoglass can come out, probably a week next April, It won't be repairable.

I've never known anything like it......

I got a crack with a large stone the other week on the M6, convinced the windscreen was a gonner, it only slightly scratched it. I was lucky then.

some cars seem to be stone magnets. My girlfriends astra is always being hit. Like every time. I sit there cringing, waiting for it to go!

4 in 18 months

Just had to pay £60 myself after a stone hit.
Was moaning about the excess to the woman at RAC Windscreens......
She then told me the retail value of the screen was £660

I happily paid the excess

£660 yes if using their approved Autoglass ripoff merchants.

We had that on an Astra Van, windscreen cracked, rang up Autoglass £350 + vat sir.

Rang up 3 other local ones. £110 inc vat fitted sir.

i had fun with windscreens, got hit by a stone autoglass came and changed it, screen was faulty as wife was nearly sick everytime she was in the car, the screen had a rippled effect to it so was a little unsettling, they came and replaced it and diddnt seal it properly so it sounded like the turbo was sat on the dashboard, they finally got it right with the 3rd one! now have scratches around the pillars where they kept taking it in and out grrr

Just dont replace it - it'll save you having to do it again in August.

Buy a pair of goggles and a hat though!

got to read the small print in some of your insurance policies...as they will only replace 3 or 4 windscreens in a year..that is if you are unlucky to have to replace 4 in a year that is!

Ten minutes after I picked up the car a large stone cracked the screen,had it replaced a few days later, one week later another stone cracked the screen, had the third screen seven months, hope it lasts, I think our screens are too thin.
