Canbus stands for something... But basically there are 2 types
Full and half
You can tell what you have by the controls on your steering wheel.
Full = scroll wheels
Half = 3 buttons on each side of the steering wheel.
Controller Area Network Bus... Basically everything is computer controlled instead of having switches and wires directly connected stuff...

thanks diet, i have full then i think, but what does that allow me to do:s seen it mentioned on the forum many times.
i see, only thing is i have sat nav so seem to permanently have the range on, when the stereo is off bit annoying.
so does that make tech 2 stuff easier having full canbus.
It's not just to do with your info screen etc. It's basically how the modules in the car communicate with each other i.e. the ECU talking to modules like BCM, CIM, DDM, PDM, UEC, REC to name just a few.
On a full-can car more parts of the car are CanBus controlled so they can do some cleverer things than on a half-CAN car.
Regarding Tech 2 on a full-Can car, doesn't make it easier as such. Just more options become available on a full-CAN car.
could you give me a couple of examples, would like to understand it.
