    Question Oh sooo many choices..

I know i said i would not be doing much to the car but don't know if i can live with the standard head unit i've had kenwood headunits for over 8 years..

Im probably going to stick with a double din unit and would really like the kenwood DDX6029 but at £550 its a bit out of my range plus it doesnt look as good as the DDX8027.

Ive only noticed the following units for under £300
    Kenwood DPX-701U
    Kenwood DPX-501U
    Clarion DXZ468RMP

Has anyone got/used any of these or got any recommendations?

oh no its started again.. bye bye money

I have a Clarion DXZ558RMP, not the model you're looking at, but I can vouch for the quality of Clarion gear. It's miles ahead of the standard Vx even with the standard speakers (very, very good for standard fit), even let's me scroll a message across the display, currently set to: Spikey www.vectra-c.com lol

The Cnet system that Clarion uses also lets you plug in a large range of accessories, such as iPods, DAB, Bluetooth, disc changers etc etc...

Its amazing what features and accessories modern head units have, i remember my kenwood 6090mp the first mp3 head unit even that couldnt run the higher bit rates that a cheap £70 unit can nowadays..
I am going to get the bluetooth addon but dont know if you can use 2 bluetooth devices at once? (i have a Nokia 6680 and have tomtom mobile).

I think the BT adaptor that Clarion uses should be compatible, should be able to find that out at Clarion World:

    http://www.clarionworld.co.uk/stock/dxz468rmp.asp

    Darn good price here too!

    That'll be this one then:

    http://www.clarionworld.co.uk/stock/wxz468rmp.asp

Have been looking at that as a possible upgrade myself I like the sound of the LPO feature.

    Its £30 cheaper over at
    http://www.caraudiodesign.co.uk/prod...-din-headunits
Not sure how much they charge on P&P but i dowt its £30 though, the extra savings could go towards the steering wheel interface.

I am swaying towards the Clarion just need to see what the wife says and take a drive around the local sound shops to listen/play with the units.
