I've always fancied one of these myself but I can ( or more likely the wife can) find other things to spend the hard earned on

It depends if you feel that your marriage will last for the rest of your life. I hope it does. Your birthday would be the safer option.

I have a personal plate as does the wife, it is very satisfying having a reg that means something to you, my advice would be to go for it. Don't just buy the number on a whim though, spend a little time searching for different options until you come up with one that really does say something about you even if it's a little more money than you were thinking of spending, it'll be worth it to you in the long run.

Mine is K666 npc, which means: Kay's beast Neil Peter C***** the wife's is her internet knickname (kaoos, after the club in Ibiza) K4 oos. Bought as birthday presents to each other, very personal to us and well worth the money IMHO.

Another advantage to a personal plate is that it hides the age of the car, when mine's all clean and shiny, you'd never guess it's nearly 4 years old.
