Hi i would use GM spec 5-30 or if budget is an issue, GM spec 10-40 if changed regulary.

have a look on fleabay you can get it cheapish... but another memeber gave a link out to national tyre IIRC, and they do oil and filter for not much more that the bits...

    worth a look.

yep.. just lloked on fleabay, GM OIL, load to choose from, i would use 5-30 but its your call, if your gonna change it that often then the 10-40 would do, unless you have it chiped or a caterman box installed... i would use the 5-30 then!.

    i change it every 12m or 10k which i hit 1st, using 5-30.

IIRC, the oil is made or called 'titan' which is rebadged for GM.

as long as it meets the GM spec (GM-LL-A-025, GM-LL-B-025) it would be ok but i would stick with a leading brand. I used to use mobil 1 but it is expensive, i stick to GM's 5-30 changing it evey 12 or 10k, without fail.

    a little advice on oil...

    thanks very much mate,
when i push my millage reset button it shows a can of oil with 26000 under it? is that when it needs its next major service? it seems to be every 30k miles my car has been serviced according to my service book.

WOW, i would never leave it that many mile between oil changes. It might be on something like an ECO service.

I will admit, when I got my Vec-C I recall the INSP reading something silly, so after 12m, I got the 1st service done at VX, explained I would have it done every 12months, USING 5-30 (as they have a habit of using their 10-40) now my INSP now shows something normal dont recall but i think its 12k ish.

Again it down to you. Some report it prevents sludge and other build-ups, others on the forum have company Vec's and stick to the ECO service schedule. I for peice of mind use the 12m rule.

My neighbour has his own courier business, and uses Merc vans using Comma oil, most have covered 250k without any big issues, having them serviced every 20k/30k.

have a search of the forum, it does offer alot of advice.

Agreed - the standard, specified oil should be fine; and certainly if you're replacing the oil twice as often as the manufacturer recommends
