    Default Car insurance advice

Hi boys i dont know if this is the correct place to ask a question about insurance but here i go. ive got 6 points on my licience 1. ms90 3 points for failing to give the info of a speeding driver 2. sp30 and 3 points anyway the ms90 code has allways bumped up my insurance by around £500 EXTRA but my licence has been sent off to get it taken off as its now been 4 years yet when i try and buy car insurance its asks for 5 years worth of points history. so my question is what will happen if i dont put the points down as its no longer on my licenece and will save me ££££ thanks in advance for your help

my thinking is.... if your not truthful to an question asked by the insurance company... when it comes to a claim and they find out... you will have invalidated your insurance..

Contrary to popular belief, the insurance companies only have a register of claims made on previous policies, not convictions.

Where people slip up, is not to disclose it on the inital proposal form, then put it down on a claim form, seen this happen loads of times. That, and people who don't disclose any mods at inception, then list them on a claim form. They are then surprised when the insurer throws the claim out.

I had an insurance company claims dept on the phone yesterday, asking us if the vehicle was insured with them. They are fekin useless.

Not that I'm telling you to lie to an insurance company :-)

I too have an MS90 thats 4 years old and an SP30 thats 3 1/2 years old!! My insurance never went up by anywhere near that amount for the MS90, definitely no more than about £50-60. It's probably worth shopping around and seeing what else you can find to be honest.

When you took out the insurance they would have asked about convictions and when you got them and you would have disclosed them as you said it affected your insurance policy so how can you not put it on as they will know it is a big risk and if they cancel your insurance it will cost you a bundle more and as I understand it the reason they ask for 5 years is that the courts can use convictions when taking into account a ban upto 5 years, it is 11 years for drunk driving and drug driving offences. If they can find a way out of paying they will on your own head be it!

Plenty of insurers only ask for claims and convictions from the last 3 years; I know this as my three claims were all four years ago lol e.g. Post Office used to do this, however the best/cheapest insurance I've found hasn't ever through one of those, but it might be better for you.

I can thoroughly recommend going the MSE route of comparing insurers online and then getting the cashback through the likes of quidco, that REALLY can bring your insurance down.

Also give Chris Knott a ring see http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73959 quoting "reference 906 - Vectra-C" lots of members have been really happy with their prices.

Definitely declare everything, otherwise your insurance will be pointless. Don't get any and you're definitely going to get pulled or go passed an ANPR.
