Cool Just serviced the Veccy - One hell of an air trap!

I've just spent this morning servicing the Vectra as it's done 20K and needed doing. Everything went fine, as normal self services go - pretty easy. Sparked up at the end and the engine cut out, couldn't get it going again. Opened up the fuel filter that I had replaced and the fuel had been sucked out. This is what caused the cut out, it had sucked out and not been able to continue running etc.

Anyway popped out got some fuel and then tried filling the pipes that hook up to the filter pot. It did start for a moment but then cut out.

So I managed to get a tow round the corner, got the car into ignition and stuck it into 3rd gear. Got enough speed up for the engine to spark up and the fuel draw worked!! Pulled over, started engine up and drove home. Works fine now.

So just a word of advice if you are going to self service, get your foot down on the throttle when sparking up!!

I did, esp after manually shoving diesel down the pipes and nothing was drawing. The air lock must have been quite tight!

Always prime the new fuel filter before fitting it You won't have that problem then
