    Default Hydraulic Pulley on 1.8vvt Cambelt Question?

    I have had a issue on my Insignia since I received in May, with a loud noise which I thought may have been a sticking starter motor, as the noise only occured when the car was first started after being left standing overnight. It does not occur during the day afterwards until next morning or if left a few hours.

    After all this time VX it seems have issued a re-work fix, for which my dealer is awaiting the parts and details of the fix so it can be resolved.

    Apparently there is a issue wth the hydraulic Pulley on the cam belt, something to do with the oil draining back over night so I assume this pulley is some sort of tensioner for the cam belt.

    As this 1.8vvt was used on previous Vx models how come its not been resolved earlier, or is maybe the Insignia version of the 1,8vvt slightly different. Is it common on the 1.8vvt and why does it occur.?

    In any event will this cause any sort of permanent damage by continually running it without it being fixed, ? going into 4th month now with it like this.

    Any info on what this pulley does would be appreciated.?

    Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some idea what it is and what it does, and how it works.
