I lived there. But unfortunately I moved there when I was 3 week old and came back when I was 3 years old LOL
St julians bay for a good night out
I went there as a sailor... I cant remember ANYTHING else except St Julians bay and being thrown out of bars for pole dancing in my boxers!
I've been twice mate in 2000 and 2008. 1st year we went to St.Pauls' Bay. Then last year we went Buggiba. Take a trip in the buses there are a scream. Been at Popeye Village, the Blue Grotto it was stunning.Valetta market was goo too. Mdina (the silent city) it was interesting. Just watch out for the annoying Timeshare folk their a pain in the ar5e but just tell them NO they'll eventually get to know your face and the answer lol. We enjoyed it loads and will probably go again sometime but it's hot too but that's why we went. The scenery is stunning too and the people can't do enough for you. Hope you enjoy it mate.
The Mosta dome is worth a visit, Medina the silent city is good, the old town and harbour at Valletta worth a visit. St Pauls on a Sat night = no room to push a pram and my kids were too small to walk.
Nice place, be better once they have cleared up after WW11. several places still look like bomb sites as they tend to start to build a house, run out of cash so stop for a couple of years then start again, run out of cash again so stop. In the summer can be very dusty and very very hot as the wind blows straight from Africa!!!! BUT still well worth a vist. As above, look out fot the timeshare pirates, tell them to "*%$ away.
We're staying in St Pauls Bay
As for the timeshare folk, I'll leave that to my wife, she almost killed a guy in Florida who wouldn't get the hint are they at the hotels or about the streets?
Agree with most of above recommendations except Popeye Village which is a bit tacky and most people I spoke to didn't much rate it. I think its had its ups and downs financially and I'm not sure how it stands right now.
If you have any interest in history, Malta is just full of it. Amongst things not already mentioned is the Lascaris War Rooms in Valetta which is similar to the cabinet war rooms in London - the war in the Mediterramean was largely directed from here by the Royal Navy. Much of it is as it was when WW2 ended. Mdina and Rabat definitely worth visiting - its like stepping back in time by several centuries.
Anyway, have a great time!
Malta 5 day Weather forecast: 32c 32c 33c 34c 32c
Unfortunately our flight is at 6:10am tomorrow, good thing we only live 15 minutes from airport but still have to get up stupidly early
