Default We've got a result on our car problem!

The engine management light keeps coming on and after clearing it will come on about 30 miles later of so. Sometimes whilst it's on there can be no power in first and second gear, you can walk quicker then the car when it's like this! But it can be intermitent, strangley! And even more perculiar is that it can lack power in first and second with no engine management.

Whilst the car is like this cruise control is also tempermental as and when it wants to work, bit of a pain when I drive 100 miles to work.

After a bit of research and playing around taking the PPC BSR remap, new MAF sensor and not using cruise control. We took it to AP Motors to see what it was reading on their diagnostics and see what the air flow reading was as this was what came up when trying to find out about this fault code. The worst case senario was the wiring was faulty to the sensor, which everyone has ruled out being as it's only four years old.

After lots of debating of what we have done to the car and what we've reversed back to standard to try and sort this out everyone has come to the conclusion it is the god damm downpipe!! As we are only running stage one we don't need the downpipe but we got hold of one cheap and added it to the car at the same time. Only solution is to go to stage three, but then we already have a stainless exhaust and I refuse to spend another £500 on a jetex one, and SuperT is having problems overfuelling so don't really want to. Get a standard downpipe and cat, ouch! Or go to Courtneys, Thorney or MPG and get it remapped again!

Moral of the story is don't get a stage one PPC BSR remap with a 3" downpipe!

Been running stage 1 with the BSR downpipe and a custom exhaust for a while now mate with no problems what so ever. Only went back to stage 1 as the clutch was slipping with stage 3 so sold the injectors for some dosh. Are both Lamda sensors securely fitted and the wiring OK? I doubt it's the downpipe causing the problems TBH mate as it only allows the exhaust gases to flow better and as long as you have a 200cell sports cat you should be good.

    PM'd you Mark.

We have the BSR downpipe and a longlife stainless exhaust. The exhaust doesn't have the centre box, just the two back boxes.

Fault code is 0102 and we've replaced the MAF sensor to no avail as it still bleeding does it
