    Angry Car failed MOT

Hi all, car failed its MOT today Nothing too serious, A broken rear spring and a drop link are the culprits.

How much should i be paying for a drop link?
Ive been quoted £11.50 + VAT for one from Autovaux. Is this about right?

    Thanks in advance

Yes mate, that is a very reasonable price, I would have said you'd be looking about £15 to £20 depending on where you go.

What springs are you going to go for? You do know they should be changed by pairs (both front or both rears?). The Vx OEM springs are an ultra common failure, so much so it is about time Vx were back on watchdog for the failure rate of them. Just like the they were for the 2.2 Direct fuel pumps.

I've got the Autovaux drop links fitted, there not proper genuine VX but they don't need to be. No probs with mine, been on for about a year.

Thanks for replies. Went to Autovaux and got 2 rear coil springs, and 2 drop links for £80, I negotiated a £8 discount

Vx only seem to have the sring breaking problem on the vectra, Other makes have the same problems though so its not just a Vx thing.
