    Question cd70 GID to CID

    Hi guys

    i have a 05 Signum with cd70.

i was looking on Youtube the other day and saw a CD70 with CID which looked really cool. also on the screen I could see the map. On my Sig I have the GID i don't see a map all i get is left, right and stright over.

is there a way to do a conversion.

i have search got annoyed you have to wait 30 sec between searches.

if this has been posted already could someone post the link

    thanx Sam

Or wait for my How2 ... maybe a few days yet as I cannot get the GPS unit where I want it to be placed and as I got to change the steering wheel I thought I would take the dash off.

To change GIC to CID, you will need to buy the screen and video cable..
Then it is the usual tech 2 routine

It's coming I just have to remove the dash as I can't get the GPS unit to fit easily into to Sun Sensor position - the dash removal is a little more complicated than the CD30 to CD70 CID conversion

Robsey has been giving me some advice bt it seems that I have a larger space issue in the front speaker location than he did do to the Sun Sensor ...

In concise words the how 2 will say something like...

also assuming that you have tech 2'd the screen back to safe mode

    1) Using extraction tools, withdraw the head-unit to expose the rear panel.

    2) carefully lever of the clip-on trim across the front of the dash that ends under the centre air vents. If you feel where it starts in the top left corner of the glove box, you will feel a recess in the bottom of the trim.
Pull the trim back out of the dash towards you...it is held in by metal spring clips.

    3) this will expose some torx screws at the bottom of the air vents.

    4) extract the vent panel complete with gid.

    5) from behind the screen, remove the grey 32 pin plug, there is flip over lever holding the plug in the socket.

    6) unscrew the four torx screws holding the gid into the back of the vent housing.

    7) remove the gid

8)slide in the cid, and refit the 4 torx screws.

    9) looking at the back of the cid, you will see two sockets...the long one takes the grey plug, fit this and flip over the lever 'til it latches.

    10) you now need to plug in the small video lead into the small square socket...just pushes in.

    11) thread the other end of the video lead down behind where the radio sits, and feed through the back of the cage.

    12) refit the display and air vent assembly (4 x torx screws).

    13) carefully push the trim strip back along the top of the dash, ensure all the spring clips are present, and that they line up with the receiver holes in the dash.

    14) returning to the head unit...pull the video lead through the cage and connect to head unit...small [ shaped socket.

    15) push the head unit back into the dash until it clicks into place.

    16) get the screen tech 2'd into your car

    job done!!

Video lead is only used on the CD70 the NCDC2013/15 uses a RGB 12 pin connector easiest way to get one is from scrappy or German ebay, you will find them in vectra c's and Omega's i did post you a link stephen to a post i made and it tells you what wires to add.
Best bet is to get a sot lead and then run the wires from that to some 32 pin connectors then just add them to the connector in car saves you having to add them to the iso plug.
