Default Moths in the ventilation system

    Hi Guys,

I seem to have an infestation of moths living in my vent system.

I am forever finding dead ones on the mats and occasional live ones flying out at will.

There also is quite a musty smell everytime you get in the car.

    Does anyone have any ideas????

I have tried closing the vents and sticking on the heater at full but no avail??

Would the Air Con filter have anything to do with it???

If so how do I go about changing it and where is it located??

Also is it the same as the pollen filter??

    Any help would be appriecated!!

First thing I'd do is check the pollen filter and replace if necessary. It's under the wind deflector (black plastic thing at the bottom of the windscreen on the outside and there's a flap on the passenger side to access it). Check it's not damp/musty and if it is check that you haven't got a build of of leaves etc. in the area under the wind deflector. If you have then locate the couple of drain holes that are there and dig out/pusg through any gunk that is blocking them.

Once you've done/checked all that then one of those Comma (sp?) AC cleaning bomb things may be worth getting to give the system a clean through.

I had fly,s once but had hit a duck and got caught up underneath but never heard of moths. Can you spray some insect killer down the air vents? Even if the filter is blocked/dirty not sure how they would live in there? I,d try the spray and what Duncan said

    Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I have considered spraying insect killer in the vents but i don't know how effective it would be as they seem to pop up from the main vent and the window demisters.

I'm wondering if the smell is down to the build of bacteria in the a/c unit??

Was thinking of getting VX to do the a/c clean service.
