    Engine : 3.0 CDTI

    Year : 12/03

Default Question about the 3.0's turbo

I've just bought a dead 3.0TiD Saab engine complete with turbo, HP fuel pump, etc.

Is the turbo the same as on the 3.0CDTi pre-facelift? What about the fuel pump and fuel rail? The reason I'm asking is because the 3.0CDTi has 20Nm of torque more than the TiD.

I'm going to speculate here, but I would expect they will be completel different
The CDTI is a common rail, I don't think the TiD is
Therefore the fuel pump design will be completely different as well as the fuel pressure

The TiD 3.0 V6 is a common rail for sure.

You can usually see the common rail itself if it has one, if not the the fuel pipes are seperate to each of the injectors...

The EGR looks the same as the Y30DT http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EGR-VALVE-FROM...05144004r28910

I bought the engine thinking I could use some parts as spares (EGR, pump, turbo). Will make a top-gear-style-coffee table with the engine block though

There are 2 different types of 3.0's fitted to the Vec. I think there physical the same, but the emissions and power are slightly different.
