    Default Tyres: Falken Ziex ZE-912's

    Hi All,

Thinking of these as replcament tyres for my NCT5's. (Front).

    Exact same tyre rating, of 215, 50's R17 W91

Has anyone had any experience with them? I can get them fitted and balanced for £171 all in, which to be honest is really good.

    Thoughts/feedback appreciated!

would getting 225/45/17 make any difference mate, its said to be cheaper and thats the size i'm going to be looking at when i replace mine in a few weeks?

i see you're in manchester mate, where are you getting them done, might just be somewhere for me to bear in mind, cheers.

Most here seem to rate them well. I was pricing them up, both 912's and 452's for replacing my fronts last weekend but I had also been going from 215/50/17's to 221/45/17's. Bizzarly though, the 215's are available in the 91W rating as you mention but the 225's are not, only the higher rated 94's. One has to go to the ultimate 512's to get the lower 91 rating in the 225/45 size.

That together with the slightly lower wall height would give somewhat rougher ride. I hadn't done anything yet as mine still have a few 100 miles left but as I've already replaced the 2 rears with 225/45/17's (Goodyear Excellence), I will either have to go with those on the front or keep the old 215/50 size or go for the 94's if I stick the Falkens on the front.

I brought them for the rear on my Vec estate at £71 a corner fitted.
They replaced Turanza's and I'm pleased with the Falken's.
    Good grip & quiet.
Defo for the front and all 4 on Mrs R's Golf in due course.

I have the 912 on my motor and they are the 225/45/17 94w
and they are superb. I was a little concernd about the 94 bit but it makes for a better ride I think. The ride is very slightly harder but the ride is not crashy but more like a German car if you know what I mean.
I went from Goodyear F1 GSD3 to these and I think its the best move Ive done for ages as they have also cured the dreaded noise from the rear.
I paid £312.80 all at for all 4 tyres at Tarporley Garage in Cheshire, they beat Blackcircles on price and these guys are one of there fitters aswell.

good tyres, but as others have commented £171 for a pair is a bit steep should be more like £140. Try www.camskill.co.uk got mine from their & the local VXL garage fitted & balanced them for £10 a pair. They did a good job too, no scratched rims and seem perfectly balanced.

Excellent tyre but I've got 4 fitted in 225/45/17 and personally I find the ride exceptionally harsh. Don't think it's just switching size because I had previously switched to 225/45 profile and had Vredestein Ultracs which the Falkens replaced. Much similar in grip, wear etc but the Falkens are much much harsher to the point of me avoiding potholes like the plague. However I didn't know that you could get the Falkens in 215/50/17 profile with the correct load index and speed etc. Within next few months I'm switching back to original size due to the harsh ride. Wonder what the Falkens will be like in 215/50 because I was thinking about Kumho Ecsta sports??

OK I've done some searching and places like Camskill seem to stock the Falken ZE912 in 215/50/17 91W. When I have looked at Falken's official site though the only speed rating I can find is the V one.
