Poor wee thing! - although as you can see he's still his chirpy little self.
In a nutshell he slipped on a wet floor (we didn't see how he landed) and then when he stood up he slipped again this time doing practically the splits!
It was obvious that he'd done something as he didn't want to put weight onto his right leg - so off to A&E we went.
They checked him over and X-rayed his lower right leg - inconclusive i.e. nothing obvious. Apparently at that age they can have hairline fractures that they simply can't see on the X-ray. So they said to bring him back in for an appointment on Monday morning.
He still wasn't wanting to put weight on it then so the Doctor then, just to make sure, got an X-ray of the upper leg and hip, Again inconclusive - nothing they could see - so they way they treat it is to assume it's a fracture and cast it. It's possible, and I think likely, that he's just sprained his ankle badly but they don't take the risk.
Since getting it on it's obviously helping by supporting whatever is the problem as he's now crawling around and putting a bit of weight on it. Before he got the cast he simply sat in the same spot and didn't move - which be never does! lol
So, back to the hospital a week on Wednesday for a check-up. They'll either remove it if they think he's fine, remove it and another X-ray (to compare) or simply leave it on for a bit longer. Longest they reckoned it would be on is around two weeks in total - so not too bad.
I expected at some point in his first few years a trip to A&E for some injury related reason - but not to have a plaster cast at 16 months! lol
Each time I see him though, in a funny way, he looks soooo cute with the teeney little plaster cast on! lol
