Default Can anyone recomend a good gearbox specialist in north west?

As title really, still havent got around to sorting my second gear issue, ie jumping out of second gear, all other gears work fine with no nasty noises just second is un-useable and its now starting to bug me.

Idealy could do with someone trustworthy who isnt going to have my pants down located in Lancashire/Manchester area.

    Thanks for any help/sugestions!

What did you have done? just a clutch or an entire gearbox? How were they on cost?

I have been told by one garage that the box doesnt have to come out to inspect the gears as there is a plate on the side that can be un-bolted and the gear set pulled out with box in situ. And then the ofending gear re-placed, anyone know about this?

My old vec B wouldn't go into reverse, turned out to be the sychro (which I still have...) and to take off the subframe, remove gearbox, change it, refit gearbox etc was about 700 squid...

Blimey, thats a lot of cash, i have been quoted £260 +vat by a place in Bury to strip out the gears and replace "something" on 2nd gear. That price doesnt seem so bad now!

That was a Vec B, so the subframe etc all has to come off, and the sychro for reverse was at the very end of the gearbox...

I had a new clutch kit fitted at the same time which cost me about 200 squid, so it may have been 700 in total, and about 500 for the gearbox bit...

    BUMP!

Has anyone on here ever fitted their own second hand gearbox to a vec c
or even the "gear set" as a mentioned earlier or is this a really specialised job?
