    Vehicle : Vectra C Hatch

    Trim : Exclusive Plus Pack

    Engine : 1.9 CDTi Z19DTH

    Year : 57

    Mileage : 100k+

My local dealer forwarded me to a local third party fitting place which they apparently use - I had a look and ran a mile.

They are remarkably easy to fit. I fitted a Westfalia one myself and took the time to paint it with underseal before and during fitment. I used the Vauxhall wiring set for single electrics but I think they do a plug-in twin electric module too.

They are easy to fit...we do quite a few at work when the cars fitted with them have been rear ended, They have to have new ones on safety grounds. We always use Witter ones as they come as a very comprehensive kit and are very well made. The electrics are not the nightmare you may perceive, its all straight forward stuff.

Towbars are very easy to fit if you have half an idea what you are doing. Do not buy a towbar and have it fitted by a vauxhall dealer they will take you for a ride and the bar will cost you a fortune.

To keep the look of the car clean i used this towbar

    Part no.GM6020

    From here http://www.diytowbars.co.uk/towbars/...ar_prices.aspx

It is a pct removable towbar which when fitted cannot be seen at all and the electrics fold up too.
Some towbars will require a cut into the bumper but this one doesn't.
The only thing will be that if the caravan has a leaf spring type stabiliser (ask if you don't know what i mean) you'll have to buy a fixed towbar with the two bolt flange.

As for the electrics i used the vx system as it is so easy to fit. The "N" socket (lights etc) plug straight in. The "S" socket (suplementary for the fridge etc.) then has a wire that goes into the same plug.. The hardest bit is keeping it all tidy.
    Anything else just ask buddy

I'll be using these people again to fit a towbar to my Signum shortly, used them 3 times now, a mate with a Vec c has just had one fitted (sorry cant remember the price tho)
They will either supply only, or supply and fit, (mobile) they've fitted all mine so far as its not been worth getting my hands dirty by the time I've bought the kit, ball, electrics etc

    Automobile North East - Tel: 0191 5815 777 Mobile: 07738 057 970

(noticed on your profile your Newcastleish?, so they should be able to come to you)

I have fitted towbars to both my Vectra's ans both my Signums, the Signum is harder due to the fact that the whole boot trim is bolted into place and takes about an hour to strip the boot properly.

I have used the Vauxhall detchable with 21N and 12S Electrics. It is very easy to do and as said, the electrics are simply plug in, so you can't get it wrong.

Cost wise, I got all my genuine Vauxhall stuff for £270 inc VAT.
