why are you blanking a egr on a 2.0 ?.... just block the vac pipe to it and it will never open again .....

On the 1.8/2.0 16v Ecotec found in the Cavalier, Calibra, Astra, Frontera, Omega, Vectra, there is an emissions reduction system called Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) - This injects some of the exhaust gas back into the inlet system to assist in reduction of CO, CO2 and NOx Emissions.

After the valves age, they can either fail or become noisy in operation (similar to a diesel),and can cause hesitation under load, Vauxhall sell replacement valves for a fair price, something around £170, HOWEVER, you can overcome a faulty valve by simply blocking the exhaust gas route through it.

Doing this should not cause the car to fail its MOT on emissions, and it will not affect the running of the car (as long as the electrical plugs remain connected)

the egr valve on a 1.8/ 2.0 is vac operated and would not become noisey in operation
the £170 price is a little steep the xev wont be that dear not even the new cdti are that dear maybe the y30 and the z30 is ....arguments for and against doing this and i would say leave it alone dont mess it is there for a reason ,.
