Default alternative remapper for z20 net

as above ive been reading practical performance car mag for a while now and there is a guy who does a regular feature on his remapping skills,so after being impressed by his fair old knowledge of mapping i emailed him too see if he could remap my z20 net and i received this reply, what yous think?

    Hi Mark,
Thank you for your enquiry. Dave is in the office most mornings between 9.30 - 10am if you would like to talk to him about your engine/project. We aren't able to remap the stock ECU, so it would need to be replaced with an Emerald ECU, which is a stand alone management system. The original loom can be utilised by replacing the plug with ours if it is in good condition. Wiring instructions and pinout chart are provided.

A copy of the parts/price list is attached. You'd need to install the ECU, a map sensor (if you don't already have one on the engine) and an extra air temp sensor in the inlet ducting or filter. The other stock sensors are compatible with our software. We have done plenty these engines here so will be able to supply an ECU preloaded with a suitable full map from another one of the same or similar spec that was mapped by Dave on our rolling road. This map functions as a basemap and is a good starting point. Once it's installed and the engine starts, with minor adjustments to the fuelling you will be able to drive carefully until the fine-tuning is done. Technical support is available by email and phone.

Basic costs you are looking at are:
ECU £580 (including maps, software, serial comms lead, manual, loom-plug & pins set)
    Map sensor - £53.90
    Air temp sensor - £12.50
    Shipping & insurance - £12.50
    Total - £658.90 plus vat = £757.74

If you come to us for mapping we do it at a flat rate of £275+vat for all three maps for the triple map-switching feature of the K3. A copy of the K3 manual is attached so you can see what is involved. This supplements the downloadable manual on our website and covers the extra features of the K3. Some extra features such as launch control, traction control etc. are in development and will be added to the software in the next couple of months.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
    best regards
    Leoni

I think the Car will throw a fit mate, do they know the Vec C has the Canbus system? Taking out your ECU is not a good idea. It would work on a Vec B /Astra G but not on a Vec C.

I had a chat with Rotex re a Super Charger for another members 2.2, similar set up but piggy backing it, they admitted it would throw a constant EML, and as you know that puts our vec's in limp.

I would not like to be a guinea pig. ECU change is alarming. They clearly have no access to the original map. There are precedents on here of remappers who have claimed to be able to remap the Z20NET and have failed. Unless you clearly know what you are letting yourself in for and relish a challenge, stay well away.
