It is unusual for the lights to dim substantially, unless there are dirty / broken earth returns or power feeds...although even in my 22 year old cavalier the connections inside the car are clean and corrosion / problem free.

Just read your user manual for "changing the bulbs", or forum threads regarding upgrading interior lighting units to find out how to remove the relevant trim etc to get access to the wires etc...then just make sure that they are all clean and secure.

Maybe a fault with the voltage distribution system..normally controlled via the BCM (body control module), but I haven't heard of problems with these before.

CIM's yes..are problemattic, but BCM's are usually okay.

How often do you have every interior light on?

In plain english...there is no clearly identifiable reason for your cummulative light usage to pregressively dim the light output.

Normally such dimming would be due to a virtually flat battery...
Does this situation change with the engine off, ignition turned on and finally the engine running..?

    Default

same with engine running, they seem dim (maybe 80% brightness) and quite yellow and turning the map lights on makes this worse, the mirror lamps are also very yellow and are next to useless. It's not an major issue, just anoying!

    thanks
