    confused slack handbrake!

hi all, searched the forum before asking question but cant find a answer, i have a signum 3.0 cdti(03 plate) the handbrake is at the very top when applying, the pads and discs are fine, i know its self adjusting but if this was the case why so much travel.i have also been told these have hydrolic handbrakes. could it be if, not hydrolic, the cable is stretched?if so how easy to replace or fix.thanks in advance.how 2???

You have an 03 plate? That's covered in the list!

Hmm, I would give them a call tomorrow mate and get a computer check. Mine still needs the work done - It's only a quick job. Just keep forgetting to get it in!

Take the car to your local dealership and ask them to check if the recall has been done
If not, then ask if they can check and adjust the handbrake at the same time

On manual adjustment (every second service) it should be no more than 3 clicks
Takes about 20 minutes, so be prepared to pay up to £30
make sure you take the locking wheel nuts, as they may be needed in order to remove the rear wheels

I am not aware of the handbrake mechanism being hydraulically assisted
The rear pads are operated from the master cylinder (foot brake) and handbrake, there are no separate pads (hence the horrendous wear on the rear pads)
