Default anybody got 345mm vxr brakes ?

im trying to toy with what pads to replace them with

general consensus on VXR forums is to replace them with EBC yellowstuff pads. But theres another group that say they're absolute balls and to stay well away. That combined with their apparent reputation for "chewing through discs" due to their hard ceramic compound has put me off.

The car is first and foremost a family car, used for trecking us all around. It sees some spirited driving when im on my own, but not very spirited as its public roads.

I would just replace with standard pads, if the standard ones werent so damn dusty ! apparently aftermarket ones arent nearly as bad. Just a question. which ones ??

EBC greenstuff is a great all round pad and is low on dust

Sorry to hijack but I find the VXR brakes truly shocking under moderately spirited driving But I remember you used to be able to get police spec pads for the old cav turbo's. As (we all know) the boys in blue had a version of the VXR is anyone able to check a parts computer to see if you can get 'police spec' pads for the VXR?

IIRC the police spec ones on the old cav turbo's offered a great improvement with no real downsides
    Ken-tec FTW.

the greenstuffs are no use mate. I've got a Stage 1 VXR with 300bhp.

The greenstuff are for max 200bhp.

I could get the redstuff ones, but nobody recommends them for the VXR, its always the yellowstuff ones that get recommended.

Regal apparently have managed to get hold of "police spec" pads. I made an enquiry about them but the receptionist who answer the phone didnt know and said she'd get somebody to call me back. Nobody did ...

Anybody know what they're likely to be or if they're available from a dealer ?

I would have thought VX will do a Police spec pad like they did when the GSi was the police car of choice.

EDIT, LOL, Jimbo beat me to it.

The Police spec were Mintex on the GSi and were even more dusty. Autovaux should come in cheaper.

After doing a bit of searching apparently all 345mm pads are police spec. Not sure though
