    Default help needed

I have just removed my light switch to change the lower instrument panel.

I wanted to fit the one with the storage box included.

All went well, but, my lights are not switching properly.

With no ignition key in the lock I cant switch any lights on. If I put the key in and turn it on the lights come on and function correctly even with the light switch in the off position. I cant however get the the front sidelights on their own.

Can anyone throw any light on the problem, pun intended.

    Thanks for any help.

sounds like your new switch is slightly diffrent and may need to be tech 2d for the car to recognise it a trip to vx maybe

    Hi David

thanks for your reply. I have removed the switch in exactly the same way before without any trouble. My car is an LS on a 04 plate.

I have looked in the TIS and can find no reference to TECH 2 for my lights.

    Thanka again.

From your symptoms, I'd say the connector on the back of the light switch isn't on properly. When you remove the headlight switch (and disconnect the connector on the back) that's exactly what happens. The headlights will come on when you turn the ignition on. Check that the connector is in properly and that you have closed the latch bit that secures the connector in place.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I removed the blue plug on the switch and refitted it and everything went back to normal.

Thanks for all of your answers. You were dead right it was the connector not fitted correctly.
