    Default Rusty door

    my drivers door has gotten very rusty at the bottom is this usual for vec c's its gonna need a respray its only 4yrs old how much rustier will the car get

    I wouldn't have thought it's normal, no. Mines 3 yrs old and no problems like that.

    Has the door bottom at some time been damaged by being opened into something followed by poor surface re-preparation prior to paint re-spaying perhaps?

    dont know if its been damaged before i bought the car it its bubbling all the way along the bottom of the door only noticed as i cleaned it 1st time in 7 months

    My 03 Elegance did that on both doors, following a Bad Repair , it went back 2 years later to the garage to have 2 new door skins and a repaint, Aparently caused by not drying the door out properly before painting

    Quite possibly as it looks like the rust has come from the inside outwards. so probably a fair bit of rust on the inside

    The vec's panels are galvanised before painting when new. There must have been a bad repair done or possible pattern panels have been used on the door.
    I have paint flaking off of my rear arch and where its come off the metal hasn't rusted.
