    Vehicle : Facelift Insignia/Corsa D

    Trim : LE/VXR

    Engine : 2.0 cdti/1.6 Turbo

    Year : 13/07

Default Thinking about a new Vec but not sure

Well i've been looking for a new VXR recently but no-one seems to have a Power Red one (the only colour of vxr i'd want).

So i was at uncle arnies today in dundee and he has a Vec C 2.8 Elite with 14 miles on the clock for 13k which i though was a bit of a bargain for essentially a brand new car but i just ain't sure.

The main thing i guess i'm worried about is the amount of fuel that an auto 2.8 will go through and i'd probably be better off with a VXR. I just don't know.

Is the above a good price for what it is??

    Cheers, John

What's the difference? I don't think you're gonna see much change at the fuel pump either way, the VXR is a beast too.

John for an xtra grand you can get a brand new vxr with 10miles on the clock, if there are any left as there was only 7 left in Scotland at Arnies when i got mine a month ago ps Arnies in Dundee had a power red brand new vxr in stock a few weeks ago

The Vec C 2.8 Turbo Elite automatic once remapped is faster than a remapped 300 BHP Vectra VXR at Santa Pod.. so expect quarter mile times around the 14.2 - 14.1 seconds (which is faster than I've done, and faster than most Astra VXR's as well !!)

Reason being... same 305 BHP remapped engine, smaller wheels, auto gearbox is very fast at gear changes.

However, round the track its a different story...

Dont know if that helps, but I wouldnt completely dismiss it, however, the Vectra VXR is what it is... a VXR (and the name carries some weight in the Vauxhall gang 'cool chart')

Here is my video of my VXR at Santa Pod racing a 2.8 Turbo Elite Remapped to 305 BHP.... Enjoy

EDIT: Oh and in the video... it looks like I beat him, but what it doesnt show is that he started off the line slightly after me (just out of camera shot).. and then caught up to beat me by two tenths of a second

Auto's generally have pretty bad fuel consumtion compared to a manual

Cheers for the comments guys, i think i may hold out for a VXR as i am more Sport orientated than luxury. Although the Elite was nice inside.

The Red VXR that was at arnold clark is gone now . I should have just went for it when i saw it but i thought i'd sleep on it. Two days went past and i decided to go for it.
By the time I got there the guy said "it's gone sorry". He said we have a couple of VXR's we could get in for you but one is black (NO WAY! the red is hard enough work) and the other is gray and i'm not too keen on that either. If he had said it was Arden Blue then i may have been swayed but never mind i'll just hold out.
They did have an astra vxracing special edition in power red but i'm a bit too tall for the sport hatch. Shame the vectra wasn't around long enough to be one of these specials.

Oh well the search continues and i may be tempted by something with the VXR kit on it at the right price and of course the right colour

VXR8? - I think there's one over at City Vauxhall, in London.

They used to be on older cars mate, but modern auto boxes are probably on a par with the manual varients, especially on bigger engined cars.
