Question Newbie with Question on Vectra Springs!

    Hi there,

I do not own a Vectra but my dad has the SRi 52 plate with 48,000 miles on it from brand new.

I myself drive a 1996 Honda Integra Type R (Import)

I'm here to find out more about the vectra, it seems like a pretty crap car tbf. Gearbox went at 30,000 miles and the front springs snapped clean yesterday...

Keep an eye out for my new post in a second!

Can I post pics up of my honda?

PS Is it common for the springs to snap?!?! Are UNIPART springs good for replacement?

What a way to join a forum, by saying that most of the members on here have crap cars!

A lot can be said about a car from its owners, maybe your dads has been treated very badly before he owned it? You can never tell.

There is a non vectra section in the gallery iirc

I literally pasted that from a local forum!
Big sig, you clearly missed where i wrote 'We got that car from NEW'
Can I add, this car never sees above 4k RPM. we do about 6-7k miles per year. So i apologize if yous lot are offended when i say this car, which hardly gets driven, decides to fail on us!

You say the car has 48K from new, not that you did all those 48K miles

Dependant on engine, some don't like not been driven "properly" i.e. CDTi's have more problems when driven "sensibly" than properly.

    I did, sorry about that

These engines don't like to be driven slowly all the time. Although I do know of a brand new insignia with 4k on it thats in need of its second gear box

What else does "my dad has the SRi 52 plate with 48,000 miles on it from brand new" ... mean? Of course we did ALL the miles. Jeeez!

First of all to the Vectra C forum, next no need to get so caught up a play on words. You could have made it clearer by saying your dad has had the car from brand new as opposed to the car has 48,000 miles on it from brand new.

This site is a wealth of information on the Vectra and he SRI like your dads is a common model. So basically you could recieve all the help you require (if people don't get offended by you saying their car is crap).

Now as for the problems you've posted so far, the gearbox is not that common a problem especially in such a young car but it is unfortunate, did your dad get this fixed under warranty? The next problem with the broken spring, well this is an extremely common problem on the Vectra (you can expect more of those if you stick to OEM springs). As already suggested tell your dad to get a set of Eibach springs for all four corners.

LOOK HERE £153 for the springs, just require fitting.

You'll find that the vast majority of people on here like their car/cars and with good maintenance and looking after they usually serve them well.
