Question Really odd Brake disk wear???

i changed my pads yesterday and i noticed on teh back side of both of the front disks are worn in a really weird way. i was just wondering if this is just a normal wear pattern for the disks. its like the attachment. sorry its done on paint but thats a basic diagram of how its worn from side on.

    Any Thoughts??

Just trying to get my head round your detailed diagram mate. Is it just a lip on the top of the disk? If so that's very common. Are the pads worn evenly on each side? If the pads a being eaten more on the inner side it tends to be because the outer caliper isn't sliding as it should. A quick little clean of the slider bolts, pad channels and a general dust over, some copper grease on all them parts as well, should sort that problem out. If not it might be a little more serious. As for the disk, if its only a little lip, and the disk had plenty of metal left then a quick spin on a lathe will sort them out. The lip is just caused by the pad not making contact to the full disk. HTH

ahh its sounds exactly as uve described. hey what you talking about. thats 2 years of millitary enginnering training making that diagram that is lol. yeh its exactly the same on both sides and when i changed the pads the slider bolts were realy stiff so ive greased up all the parts that are allowed to be greased

Yea the lip is fine as ling as it doesn't get too big, if it was the other way round the pad would have a step as it overhung the disk.

its about 7.5mm width wide and 1mm deep out compared to the rest of the disk. its not too bad tbh i might just upgrade the disks and pads to EBC's next month just to be safe
