confused Newbie in need of advise on front brakes

Afternoon everyone, right i`am new to all this, but i believe there will be many of you out there who can help me. The dash sensor is telling me that my front pads need changing so Q1 are they straight forward to do (how)? Q2 is it advisable to change the disc`s at the same time? Q3 are they simple (how) to do? Cheers folks.

pretty straight forward matey, There is a "How To" on this but not sure if being an unpaid member you have access to it, for the price of new discs these day you might aswell change them too, depends how worn they are and your finacial status is obviously. good luck

easy enough to do, if you want just standard pads just halfords standard ones will do, if you want a bit more stopping power have a look for EBC green stuff pads i think they retail between 50 and 70 quid but there definatly worth the extra in my opinion.

....unfortunatly im lead to belive that once the sensor is tripped it needs replacing. (correct me if im wrong guys) i dont think its that expensive and not hard to change, just a quick trip to the dealers for that tho

    to change the pads http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42093

thats a how to or just buy the haynes manual for the vectra.

as a matter of the disks.... it depends if there warped, cracked or you just want to? if you do the disks at the same time as the pads atleast ull know that everything is new and it means ull only have to do it once.

    Greetings,

    to the site,

Redraptor, absolutely correct, if the wear indicator wire has been worn down/off then it will need to be replaced. The part is not expensive about £12-£15 I think. It is a simple plug and play cable and it's one of those personal choice things: I tend to change mine each time I replace the fronts pads (not very often really) so I pick one up when I get new pads. Alternatively if you get the wire off the old pads in a good enough condition to be re-used then there is no reason why you can't, for the new pads.
