    Default 2.2dti tuning

Right so I have a 03 2.2dti and getting a bit bored of it and as I cant afford to replace it decided to tune it instead! I live in southampton so was planning on having it remapped at regal but what else can I do before that. I had in mind the usual being an airfilter and exhaust but is there much different putting a new exhaust on it ie. cat or no cat, baffle or no baffle and how it will effect the MOT? and any other mods without breaking the bank? any help would be good as its my first diesal?
    Thanks

Do regal even offer a remap for the 2.2dti? There is a tuning box for them but its £400ish I think. VP44? have a search on here for it
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

On a diesel its torque not power. You don't get one without the other, but its the torque that gives you the in gear pull, bhp gives more top end gains. Thing with that is diesels don't really rev high enough to take advantage.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I've not tried Regal but give them a phone and ask if they actually do your Vec C 2.2DTI of your year? I've tried many places but it is the same old storey.... The 2.2dti Vec C has a hybrid ECU and cannot be remapped. The older Vec B 2.2DTI can be remapped no probs and it is probably this they have on the website (I've not looked yet).

Very interested if they can though.

Hi, they do cater for the 2.2dti it's £450ish for the tune. You can email them on their web site for details.

For that sort of money you can pick up a steinbauer box for the DTi, very safe as far as boxes go and it can be turned off when need be

I've fitted a K&N panel filter and de-restricted the air box, i also run on millers diesel sport 4. The dti's have the short VXR air inlet on them anyway so no need to do anything with that.
Cleaning the egr valve will make things smoother and fitting a free flowing exhaust will also help.

I've not tried yet but i will be trying a front mounted intercooler on mine. Also check all of the boost pipes for splits/cracks as they will contribute to lack of power.
