Default Replaced rear pads - But now seem to rattle in caliper!!!!!

    Hi folks

Changed my rear pads on 55plate 1.9CDTi 120.

They fit fine but now the n/s rear pads appear to be rattling in the caliper.

Tried heavy braking from speed, working the handbrake etc but it hasn't seemed to adjust them up.

Admittedly I was in the brown stuff and needed pads asap and so they're not the greatest brand but they had the newer 3-sided clip to go over the piston!

Also the anti-rattle spring is still there and not pinged off anywhere!

    Any clues?????

Funny enough i've got the same problem. It's the outside pad ie the one without the clips that's moving in the caliper. Like you I bought an aftermarket brand which probably have a bigger tolerance and fit too loosely. Braking is fine so i'm wondering whether to live with them or buy genuine VX pads.

after you fitted the pads did you pull the handbrake on and off before you pumped the foot brake??? this could be why, if it was me i would take the pads back off, rewind the caliper smear copper slip on the back of the pads, reassemble then pull the handbrake up and down a few times before touching the footbrake! hope this helps!

as above, check its the right pads. Both sets will fit but one not quite well enough

    Thanx for the advice folks.

May go for the cheap option 1st.......................

take the pads back off, rewind the caliper smear copper slip on the back of the pads, reassemble then pull the handbrake up and down a few times before touching the footbrake!
    as I never realised...................

make sure they are the right pads for your model, there are changes to the pad shapes and clips accross the range!
as my problem is identical to Angelchops in as much as................

It's the outside pad ie the one without the clips that's moving in the caliper
So gents (and the odd lady), what is the proper part number REPUTABLE BRAND for a facelift 55 Plate Siggy 1.9 CDTI 120 BHP on solid rears???????

    Thanks again in advance!
