    Eek Romove her flaps?

    Hey All,
I have a 54 plate 1.9 16v 150 BSR ppc re-programmed, with the weak ar*e swirl flaps... actually refixed the bar 6x now and its getting annoying; port 4 (next to egr) is flapping around now!!!

I was wondering if its feasible to run the car without them? i.e. i have to take the manifold off to replace it, so could i take the swirls out, plug the actuator holes & re-fit? And run like a full open 16v inlet manifold? would this help top end, and loose bottem end torque? would it be too drastic?

If anyone has tried this let me know!
I have a week off end of september to put a B12 suspension kit on and re-clean my egr & fit a restrictor shim.

I would save £100+ and future hastle!

    Comments please! ...

It would help top end at the low down torque's expense, but TBH I dont even think you'll get there as the car will just go into limp mode when the sensor readings dont add up.

Oh, i knew the swirl actuator would need to be left on - but i'd remove the link rod that connects it to swirl 3. So boot pressure and other sensors would be affected?

Spose i shouldent assume it's clever enough to cope with this kind of big change..

There's that many sensors on them nowadays that if the ECU notices anything that shouldn't be there is shuts itself down. Mine is one of the older Z engines and it still goes into limp if you increase the airflow too much.

Ok, sounds like i should just put a new inlet manifold on then..stop thinking too much

Seen a few on ebay, lately around £100.. so not that bad. I know it takes a few hours labour but i'm used to that..

    thanks for reply's.

I'm sure I saw a post recently that said if the swirl valves stuck in the open position you'd probably only notice some extra smoke when booting it but if they stuck in the closed position then you get EML & limp mode etc.
