    Default key fob issue

i think the battery has gone in one of my key fobs. it was only working at close range and has now stopped working at all.

i dont have the original owners handbook but i do have the pass card thing for the car and i know that vectra-c's can have a specific procedure for changing battery on the fob.

can i do this myself or is a visit to vauxhall on the horizon?

any help would be great peeps.......by the way i got a 03 plate vectra c ls

Just do it yourself.... pop open key and change job done

I could be wrong but i think you have 3 mins from the old one coming out to put new one in... so have new one unpacked....otherwise you have to reset key... if you do need to reset you

    Sit in car. Close door.
    Switch on ignition.
System will remain in programme mode for 30 Secs.
Briefly press either button on the remote and release.
Central locking system should have cycled and locked and unlocked the doors.
    Your key is now ready.

I think its just old battery out and new one in, but if the key has been flat for a while it may need a tech 2 session to relearn the key, well thats what VX told me. Hopefully someone will know and be along soon

You can take the battery out indefinitely, so long as one key is always powered
You can even start the car with the battery out of the key!
You can get in by using the lock on the drivers door, the alarm will sound, and then insert the key into the ignition WITHIN 10 seconds
Failure to insert the key will result in the keycode being rotated and the key will then need to be TECH2 reset

On inserting the battery it is recommended to do this with both keys present
Open then lock the car, then repeat on the other key, and that will resynchronise the keycode
