    Default muting the stereo

I know that the phone kit can mute the stereo but was wondering if anyone knows (well I'm sure I can) how easily I could mute the stereo when the parking sensors are activated. Light on switch is activated by pressing thge button or placing in reverse. I do have the grey connection thingy that the phone kit plugs into as I removed it.

    Thanks anyone.

Most (pre-Canbus) mute lines are 'open-collector' which means that they're pulled up to 12V by the head-unit and anything that wants to mute has to pull the line low (i.e. connect the mute wire to earth. This way there's no problem connecting multiple devices to the same mute line. If the parking sensors have a dedicated mute line, just connect that to the mute input on the stereo. If not, find a line that goes to 12V when the parking sensors are active and connect that to the input of a 12V relay, then connect one of the relay output terminals to the mute line and the other output terminal to earth.
