    confused Spray Painting tips?

Hi folks gonna buy a set of reversing sensors for my rear bumper.
On eBay they sell different colours my Vectra is Ultra blue so I want to spray them to match so.......

do i buy the blue one's and spray over the blue or buy white one's and spray them?

Also will it affect the sensors by painting them?

Should I prime them then paint then lacquer them or just paint them?????

Any help or tip would be great thanks.

Did my parking sensors about 3 months ago. bought the black ones as that was reccommended if you wanted to spray them a different colour. I used a green scouring pad to rub down gloss, primered and sprayed 2 thin coats of ultra blue, then a couple of coats of lacquer on. Apart from the primer all paint and lacquer was GM. HTH

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

I bought shiny black ones the 6 sensor kit ( 2 x front + 4 x rear)....rubbed 'em down lightly with very fine grade(1000) wet & dry, sprayed a couple o' light coats of grey primer, again rubbed 'em down lightly, next day sprayed 'em with a light coat of Lighting Silver Cellulose and then another light coat... Colour match great...and they work fine..

Check the Search for parking sensors...lots of information there....

As stated above .. I definately recommend you buy the unpainted ones (usually black) as the colour choice rarely matches your own colour anyway.

After spraying them with light coats of paint, and laquer, they will most certainly work much better. Its important you spray very thinly, just enough to cover, and best not onto already painted sensors. It does make a difference, otherwise you may find they will give you the odd false alarm when it rains.

The silver ones are an exact match for star silver so you never know mate.
