Default My Osram nightbreaker bulbs lasted less than 8 months.

    As per subject header.

Fitted 2 H7's and 2 H1's (facelift Vecta) in the last week of December and the offside dip beam blew last week, and the nearside one last night. Good job I kept the old H7 bulbs I took out to put back in again.

Has anyone else found that the Nightbreaker bulbs don't last very long, considering the original bulbs fitted at time of manufacturer were some 2½ years old before one of them blew.

I'm now contemplating getting a HID kit instead, but before I do, I want to know the legalities of fitting them. I don't have headlight washers, nor auto beam height adjust, which I am led to believe is a requirement for HIDs? I do however have the projector lenses.

Do I need to fit headlight washers, but just use the manual beam height adjuster by the headlight on/off switch?

I've seen plenty of cars around fitted with what appear to be aftermarket HID kits, and to be honest most of the ones I've seen fitted have misaligned headlights and just dazzle oncoming traffic. Something I don't want to do as it annoys the hell out of me.

    Any advice welcome.

    Try Philips Vision Plus
I agree the OE bulbs last up to three years and any replacements can last anywhere from 1 week to 6 months
I have just swapped a third set of bulbs for an old set of Philips Vision Plus which used to be in my Vectra B!
