Default Help - engine cleaner advise

    Hey all,

A mate has put engine cleaner in his car, and after running it for a while says its smoking from the exhaust, is this normal and if so how smokey does it get?

    Cheers

Injector cleaner, Carb Cleaner or oil flush? If its smoking with the flush then that's bad, if its the other 2 then that's just all the poo burning off. How many miles on the engine, you shouldn't really flush a high miler.

think its oil flush by the sounds of it, my fault as i mentioned the issues i was having with my old b.

Think its done over 100k, and is smoking from the exhaust. Whats the damage in doing this?

Its not doing any damage. What its doing is cleaning it. By doing this its stripped all the carbon that had filled any scratches on the bores or around seals. With high milers you need to keep this to keep it oil tight. I take it he's not driving it around with the flush in it is he? Also, if the engine is not regularly flushed then you flush it at 100k all that poo is going to block something up.

Please tell me the flush is still not in there! You cant drive a car with the flush in, its there to break down the oil, if you drive with it in you could really cause big problems to the big end bearings. You add the flush and let it tick over at about 2000 rpm while stationary for 15 mins then empty the oil out and put fresh oil in.

It can block the small oil channels that feed cams, big ends............The Hydraulic lifters wont like it either.

I'm not getting you mate, whats in there at the moment? If it started smoking after putting flush in there then that's the cause, or at least has started the ball rolling. The flush needs to be taken out ASAP if its still in there. Will the smoking stop with fresh oil.............time will tell, but I fear it wont be as clean burning as it was pre flush.
