    Default Flush or No Flush(2.2Dti)

    Hi
Car is now 51/2 years old(04 reg).

It has always been filled with 5W30 fully synthetic oil. For the first two years the oil was changed every year. since then it has been changed at 6month intervals. The current mileage is 44,500. Mostly used on very short journeys.

I am now about to change the oil again and I am undecided whether to this time use Wynns engine flush.

    What would you do?

I have a tin of unopened engine flush that is about two years old, would it still be okay?

TBH it may dislodge some sludge that may cause problems. Personally, as you change the oil so often, I wouldn't bother.

as said i would only flush if it's been flushed on a regular basis you don't want to dislodge something

Not a good idea to use a flushing oil.

do what i did. whip the sump off once youve emptied it and give it a REALLY good clean. i used Gunk then left it for half an hour then tipped it in the a waste can then got a scotch brite and cleaned the residue out with just diluted gunk. then dry it out really well refit it and fill it up.

its a DAMN dirty job mind you. but ull be amazed how much rubbish is in there! well mine was 5 years old at the time. i figured id do it myself than chuck some chemicals i wassnt sure about into an expensive engine.

Plus doing it manually means you can ensure that ALL the sludge has been removed. the oil in mine stayed oil coloured for about 3 months with out going black.

im sure someone will say never to do this in a min and give a mirriad of reasons. but its done no ill effect to mine (2.0DTi)
