How many miles has it done?
Main dealer price £350+ at a guess, a fair bit cheaper in an indy garage
around £350 at dealer when I had mine done.
£410 When i had mine done at main dealers.
holy crap thats not an expense i needed right now, its got 60k on it, to be honest its pretty much my own fault, i saw the car and seen how well it had been taken care of and saw all the service history and didnt even think the cambelt might not be done, but i already put pen to paper to say id have the car and left a deposit, no point losing my deposit by saying no as it is still a lovely motor.
just to clarify though its defo the water pump that needs doing at same time isnt it
The only reason for doing the waterpump is that the amount of work to get to the pump is the same as replacing the cambelt.
So whilst everything is stripped down for the cambelt, you may as well do the pump.
Or, leave the pump (saving the cost of a new one) and get it done at a later date and spend more money on loads of labour.
No brainer really - get the pump done as well.
EDIT - Cost at my local VX stealer in October 2008 was £428 for the pump and belt.

Does anyone know roughly how much for the parts?
I've got a bloke I get to do my greasy jobs, and this is next on my list, but wondered if anyone on here had a clue where the cheapest/best place to source the parts from.
Thanks
