    Default CD70 Navi help

I have previously posted a problem with the screen in that all of a sudden it went blank one day and hasnt worked since. Checked all the leads plugged in ok and checked that there is still power going to the screen (so it seems), and checked all fuses but still no luck as to why it isnt working. The actual head unit is working fine, as is the sat nav but no screen means its all guess work!

Took it into a local car audio place and one of their specialists says these screens are usually ok (Siemens VDO - £1200 dealer replacement!!!). they think it may be the supply/power from the actual head unit itself that may have failed. Before I give it to these guys to look at (£55 min. cost so not too bad if they fix it) I was wondering if anyone on here could advise if they know of any other potential fixes.

My sister has an astra with the CD 70 unit so I was debating trying her screen in my car or vice versa to check if it is the screen thats at fault (believe that the screen would only flash tho as not coded to my unit, but presumably would still power up as such?).

The screen will work, but it will bong every five seconds (if there is a fault - not matched). Although for reasons that I will not post on a public facing forum, it is likely that it will work fine.

I have wired up a CD70 into a Cavalier 3, and you could just link up the two red wires in the GID / CID, or the two reds in the head-unit.

According to TIS these are linked anyway...albeit not directly.

Just checked my other thread, there is only one red and one brown on the head unit.....the only other reds will be for telephone or CID data links...don't bridge onto these.

The Display unit however does have two reds (+12 v) and two browns (ground).

If necessary you can link the reds at pin 3 and 5, or you could link the grounds (browns on pins 1 and 2 of your display).
Again as said before, if you have a link for telephone, DAB, rear head-unit as found in Meriva etc or CID, it is possible to find multiple reds and browns...don't link any other wires as it may damage the unit.

Here is the pin out for the main plugs of the Displays and CD70 Head-unit.
The Colour Info display has a separate lead for RGB signals (don't touch this if you have one).
