car with a spanner through it?

i've just had the car with a spanner through it come on in my 3.2 gsi but this goes out when i start it. is this ok or should i have it looked at, all advice greatly recieved!!!

should go out after 25 or so starts. It means you had a fault but it has cleared itself.
